History of Foundation - French

D.E. French Foundation, Inc.

The Certificate of Incorporation, filed on October 31, 1955, marked the official establishment of the D.E. French Foundation. A significant milestone was reached with the first meeting of the incorporators held on November 30, 1955. Esteemed individuals such as D. Edwin French, Clara M. French, Earl E. Bockstedt, H. Donald Conley, Edward T. Boyle, and Robert A. McCaull served as the original directors of the corporation. Their vision and dedication set the stage for our foundation’s mission.

The primary purpose of our corporation was to create, receive, and maintain a fund dedicated to supporting charitable, benevolent, religious, scientific, literary, or educational organizations. By nurturing this fund, we have been able to positively impact various sectors of our community and contribute to the betterment of Cayuga County.

Today, our Board proudly continues the legacy of its founders by passionately supporting our community through strategic grant-making. We understand that meaningful grants have the power to enhance the lives of individuals in Cayuga County. Therefore, we diligently identify projects and initiatives that align with our mission and have a tangible impact on the lives of our fellow residents.

Through our grants, we strive to address pressing needs, foster community development, support educational opportunities, promote scientific advancements, and empower organizations with benevolent purposes. By leveraging our resources and expertise, we aim to create a lasting and positive change that reverberates throughout our community.

As we reflect on the accomplishments of our foundation since its inception, we are grateful for the continued support of our Board and the unwavering dedication of our team. Together, we remain committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals in Cayuga County. Through our ongoing grant programs, we endeavor to uplift, inspire, and nurture the thriving spirit of our community.
