The Certificate of Incorporation, filed on December 21, 1962, marked the official beginning of the Stanley W. Metcalf Foundation. The initial meeting of the incorporators took place on February 1, 1963, with esteemed individuals such as Stanley W. Metcalf, Randolph Seymour, Harold G. Metcalf, George R. Metcalf, and Frank R. Metcalf serving as the original directors. Their vision and dedication laid the foundation for our organization’s mission.
From its inception, the Metcalf Foundation was established to provide capital contributions to other nonprofit corporations and make donations that would benefit the public welfare and the greater Auburn and Cayuga County community. Our focus has always been on supporting causes related to hospitable services, charity, education, science, civic engagement, and other similar purposes.
As we fast forward to today, our foundation remains deeply committed to serving Cayuga County and its residents. We continue to honor the principles set forth by our founders. Through a range of impactful programs, we strive to address the evolving needs of our community and make a positive difference in people’s lives.
The primary objective of the corporation has been to establish, receive, and maintain a fund that enables us to support organizations working in charitable, benevolent, religious, scientific, literary, and educational fields. By allocating our resources wisely, we can contribute to the growth and success of these vital community-driven initiatives.
Guided by our current Board of Directors, our foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting Cayuga County. Through strategic grant-making, we strive to enhance the lives of individuals and make our community a better place for all. We are honored to carry on the legacy of our founders and to serve as a catalyst for positive change in Cayuga County.
